Mum'sChristmas Pudding

A traditional festive pud, made using my Mum's recipe.

Makes 2 Puddings


225g Currants

170g Sultanas

170g Raisins

225g Bread Crumbs (brown or white)

2 Grated Carrots

198g Plain Flour

170g Suet

112g Mixed Peel

112g Glace Cherries (Halved)

112g Demerara Sugar

1 Grated Cooking Apple

55g Chopped Almonds

7g Grated Nutmeg

1/2 Tbs Black Treacle

4 Beaten Eggs

1/2 Pint Dark Ale/Stout

75g Brandy

1/2 tsp Salt


1. Mix dry ingredients together

2. Add all liquids and combine

3. Steam for 6 hours.

Store in a dry, cool place.

4. Steam for 2 hours on the day of serving.

Serve with Rum Sauce or Brandy Butter.

Tip. If you'd like, add some more booze from time to time, the pudding is being stored.

If stored correctly, the pudding will keep for up to 2 years at least.
